Simple cure for 'standing around in 90 degree heat'...don't go in the summertime.
Helps with the crowd issue too.
When we do go to Disney at that time -- which we usually don't -- we go late. When MK is open to 2 am, why not get there at 6 pm and enjoy the place while it is cooler?
Considering that Disney is now in the 60s per share... I'm not complaining. However, it's important to note that 40% of their revenue is ESPN. Only 20% is the recreation.
From this post, I can tell you've not actually been to Disney. Many of the Queue's are inside buildings, with interesting themes or games to play, in air conditioning. None of the rides are 30 seconds short.
I don't like waiting in lines at all, but Disney is the best in the business at easing the pain. Check out Toy Story ride queue, the kids love it.
Actually, yes I have been once and that was more than enough for me
Thank you, I will send on to my kids who are planning on going in May 2014. I will never step foot in that place again, but amusement parks, any of them, do nothing for me
I much agree. And also I don't think it is just Disney. It's theme parks in general. A new one not far from Disney just to get in the gate last I heard was around $70. Family of 5 = $350 and that's a lot of grits.
Considering a 90 minute movie would cost a family of four $50 just for tickets, $50/1.5=$33/hr the theme park would be $350/12=$29/hr. Break it down that way and the theme park offers a better ROI.
We went in Feb. and since my Father is a retired armed forces, we got to use the military salute discount.
Disney 4-Day Military Tickets with Park Hopper Option for $169 each, plus tax. My daughter was under 3, so she didn't need a ticket, 340 bucks for the 3 of us to get in the park 4 days was a great price. We didn't pay ANY tax because Shades of Green hotel is a tax free military 'base'.
I guess the lesson is, do your homework, and you'll find the discounts.

That was nice, happy to hear they honor our military
If you haven't been to WDW in years (20+ or so) and you plan on eating dinner in one of the sit down restaurants be prepared to not get a reservation of your choice unless you book way ahead of time.
Disney advertises that you can book 180 days ahead. I thought that was ridiculous so I called my travel agent to see what the REAL story was. Absolutely book ahead of time she told me.
Disney sells so many meal plans that you must book well ahead of time or risk not getting where you want or what time you want.
I called the Disney reservations dept. and the young lady took care of all my requests with some slight time adjustments to my preferred times.
Were not going to late October this year but I have all my dinner reservation made.
TIP from Disney, there are always last minute cancellations so it's not impossible to get a reservation the day you call. Be flexible.
