We are international graduates moving to Oakland. We love traveling, and hopefully one day we will rent a car and start our journey.
We've been thinking about taking a route Oakland -Phoenix -Albuquerque -Denver -Salt Lake City -Lake Tahoe -Sacramento -Oakland.
Has anyone had such a traveling? Does it make sense to visit all these places? Are there any places within this route that we need to see? What would you advice?

They all have interesting sites and yes, it would be a great trip, but I think, unless you are planning on taking about 3 weeks, you might want to split the trip up. 1/2 one time and the other 1/2 later. I know it looks like the trip would be a nice wrap around, it would, but it would still be better to split it. I would also include some of the national parks in the trip. How about doing Oakland, southeast, heading toward Phoenix and over to Albuquerque. Coming back through Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Bryce and Zion national parks. The second trip you could head to Sac, Tahoe, down to Salt Lake and over to Denver.

I thought that two weeks would be enough for this trip... Just to spend a day in each city and the rest time is the road itself. It seems like that I was wrong then..

^^^This is more accurate. We did a similar route several years ago and it took us over 3 weeks and we still did not see everything. There is a lot to do and see on a travel route as OP wants to do. One day at some of those places is not enough time to experience all there is to do.
My personal opinion is that you should cut Albuquerque and either Lake Tahoe or Salt Lake City out of the trip (No offense to either place but it's something had to go). Gives you a little bit more time to breath and enjoy some things. I'd like to also agree with everyone who is saying to hit up some of the national parks. Arches is jaw dropping but you'd have to make some changes to your route in order to get to it.
Shameless plug (I work at this website but it's helpful) but put your route into Roadtrippers.com and it might help you find some things to do.
