My first exposure to gambling, was punch boards in Iowa. In cafes and gas stations (ca, 1948), they were thick blocks of cardboard, with matrix of dots printed on top. Using a stylus, you choose a dot, and push through it, ejecting a rolled up piece of paper through the bottom, which reveals the prize won. My mother thought they were wonderfully entertaining, since we lived in Wisconsin, a state where even colored margarine and firecrackers were illegal.

I have been to most of the casinos. I rarely gamble at them but I like to walk around for a little while. And some of them have great restaurants.
Well I certainly can't say I don't gamble, but we don't gamble a lot. I do like to play slots, hubby like the races like I mentioned. In spite of our long list, we really go rarely to casinos.

Just curious..............do you think you would go more often if they were closer ?
Seneca Niagara in Niagara Falls, NY; Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, ON; Fallsview Hotel and Casino in Niagara Falls, ON; Seneca Gaming in Irving, NY; Turning Stone in Verona, NY; Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ; and I guess that's it. Seems like I'm missing one, but I guess not--a planned trip to Foxwoods never amounted to anything, and although I qualified online for the main event of the 2008 World Series of Poker, I ended up squandering the $12,500 I had won in high-stakes online cash games before I had the chance to set foot in the Rio/Vegas. I was rather poker-obsessed from age 18 to around age 24 or so, and all of the above places were visited with poker playing as either the primary or sole purpose of the trip. The now-defunct Seneca Gaming poker room in Irving and Turning Stone's cardroom were/are ages 18 and up, so they were convenient for my 18-year-old self...although the 7-hour round trip drive to and from Turning Stone wasn't especially convenient, especially when I would drive that distance only to show up there with a mere hundred dollars, an amount that could last me a few hands...or all day. Once I turned 19 I was able to be admitted to the casinos in Ontario, so those two venues (Casino Niagara especially) became my most frequent destinations. I still play poker and still occasionally make my way to Seneca Niagara, but my obsession has been toned down considerably, and that's for the better, overall.
Not long after turning 18 I went with a friend to a local Off Track Betting location hoping to make an NFL bet...obviously I had little knowledge of what OTB had (and mostly didn't have) to offer.
I played poker to survive while in colombia. I played in casinos in Bogotá and Cartagena. I didn't feel comfortable in MedellÃn so I didn't play there. I played for a while in Viña del Mar and gave myself a very nice standard of living for quite a while. Never been to vegas, but I've played in Casinos in South Florida (Hollywood) and Michigan.
I've played at plenty of other places, can't remember all of them. However, I still have never been to Vegas.. even though my grandpa is a poker pro there and spends 7 months out of the year living there.
Cool story. I'm guessing you're a member of the 2+2 forums? I was banned from them a few months back...never really posted anywhere but the science, math, and philosophy section. I did however like to occasionally read the travel section of said forum where poker biographies like yours would be a little more common than I would've guessed
Before posting, had to pull up a map of Nevada and refresh my memory. At one time or another, have been inside of casinos in the major gambling centers of the state of Nevada countless times, all of the mid level centers, with one or two exceptions, and many of the smaller towns with casinos. The definition between major, mid level, and small centers may be a bit debatable. Anyway, here goes, and I may have left something out; Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, Mesquite, Primm, Wendover, Jackpot, Henderson, Sparks, Carson City, Verdi, North Las Vegas, Minden, Hawthorne, Jean, Ely, Winnemucca, Topaz Lake, Beatty. The one center I have missed is Pahrump, and also Elko, which may be called either a mid level or small gambling location.
Outside of Nevada, several Indian casinos in California, a few in Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Then there are the several racetracks and many Off Track Betting sites and casino racebooks, but we have done enough, and won't go into that now.
