They OBVIOUSLY felt the woman was not physically capable of the exit row duties which, as ludicrous as people may think they are, for NOW are a "thing. The 50 LB door, for example.

If she could NOT do so, she'd be in the WAY of others who could.

Plane Exit Row Seat Is a Responsibility - ABC News

Resisting arrest, being "dragged down the isle" telling COPS "do what you have to do" then suing for FIVE MILLION?

TYPICAL. I hope the judge or jury actually ADDS a fine when they rule against her.
I see nothing that showed they felt she couldn't open the emergency exit. I think this was a case of a FA overreacting and trying to grub the last cent for the carrier.

At her age? You just offended a lot of people. I'm in my 50's and probably in better shape than the majority of people much younger than I am. She was on her way to a ski trip, she would have been able to help.

The lady made a mistake, so what?

It was her attitude that then was so so stupid...as if she would get
away with attitude on a plane!!
Then, acting like a college protester being dragged off the plane...ridiculous for
a nurse to act like that!
Both parties were outta line...both.
I agree. The words "Oh no you don't" tell me the FA was looking for a fight to begin with. Her extraordinarily poor choice of words started this problem. Considering her obviously poor judgement, perhaps she shouldn't be tasked with people's lives and should find a different job.

The woman should have apologized and said she wasn't aware it would be a problem (she probably wasn't!) and let it go.

Both were wrong and both should have been punished.

And therein lies the problem. She had returned to her seat and there is nothing that shows she was causing a disturbance. The FA stepped WAY overboard. If I were her boss, she'd have some serious explaining to do.

I've never changed my seat without first asking a FA if it was ok.

A picture shows here being forceably removed by police....from the exit row.

There is a sizable thread now in the aviation forum, I have some links to the flyertalk forum that has some other info - including that this woman has a history of frivolous lawsuits, a picture taken by fellow passengers showing police removing her (from what appears to be an exit row), and a statement from fellow passengers indicating that she was obnoxious.

If they arrested everyone who was ever obnoxious on planes, that would take about half of the traveling public. Personally, I think nail clippers should be tarred and feathered.

What picture? I was responding to the original post, which contained a quote from the woman stating that she went back to her seat, and was THEN forced off the plane.

I just noticed that the incident took place in March of 2013. Why is it in the news cycle again? Has there been any resolution? Has United commented?

Because she finally found a shyster attorney to file the lawsuit against the airline.

CBS2 Exclusive: Jean Mamakos Sues United After Arrest On Flight « CBS New York

This article (with accompanying video) indicates that she had gone back to her seat and was THEN forced off the plane.

How about providing some links?
