I'm looking at going to either Puerto Rico or Mexico in September and looked on Groupon and CheapCaribbean but their deals usually go through July-ish right now. Are there other good places I can check to find vacation packages this far out in advance? I'm looking for hotel+flight packages....

That's probably a bit far out, timewise, to get good deals. Wait a while and then start looking. Also check Travelzoo.
