We're going there next summer and we can't find a single 4 star hotel. We tried to slum it and go for a residence inn but they've block booked the rooms!

We can't really find anywhere, it's either in another city or hundred's of miles away! Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we could look in central Wisconsin! Some of the houses are so dingy, I'm not trying to offend but i'm used to more luxurious places than just wooden walls!

I am willing to lower my standards slightly, but not to a dump or somewhere isolated. Our budget is $2,000 for a week. Any ideas?

For someone not trying to offend you're not doing a very good job!

you'll have to increase your budget or check to see if the hotel will offer a reduced rate if you help out in the laundry room each morning

What do you mean? I don't think $2000 is a low budget for there, anyway I don't care about the budget i'm asking for decent hotels.

If you haven't got anything relevant to say please don't post here because it's not helping me.

Wisconsin is a US state of some 65,000 square miles (roughly). Looking at a map, there's a place called Wassau, which is approximately in the middle. Is that where you want to stay?

It might help to be a little more specific.

If you don't want to give a location, no one can help you. Stay at the Pioneer Inn in Oshkosh. There's some higher end hotel in Appleton but I can't think of the name. You're not trying very hard if you seriously can't find a decent place to stay.

Well it depends what you mean. We did find a residence inn but it's blocked and we need to wait to January to book which we're scared of doing.

Maybe we'll have to slum it.

Why so afraid of giving the exact location? It's not like it's identifying information.

Wisconsin is not known for luxury. Frankly, outside of Green Bay, Milwaukee and maybe Madison, there aren't going to be a lot of four stars. I think you need to temper your expectations. You'll be able to find clean and comfortable, but don't expect anything too extravagant.

And waiting until January to book a room in Wisconsin is fine. They likely just haven't reached the open booking window. I can't think of many places in WI that will sell out six months in advance.

What do you mean it depends what I mean? If you're staying in a small town, anywhere in the U.S. I might add, you're not going to find a 4 star place to stay, that's just a fact. If you want 4 star, stay in Milwaukee.
