I have some extra time in February 2018 and would love to take a mini vacation. I am on the East Coast and willing to spend $1k to $2k on the vacation. Preferably in the lower end of that range. Give me some ideas!

Do you want to stay in the USA or go to Europe, or elsewhere?

Hot Springs!!!(in snow regions) make great Feb Vacations (many options... including Iceland!) eat first... food could set you back $1000...

but if you are on the first-of-year 'weight loss kick'. not eating and hot springs are a perfect combination.

If you book over a month ahead, you can fly to almost any world capital now for under $1,000 round trip. Nairobi? Under $800. Mumbai under $700. Bangkok under $600 , from JFK. Ouagadougo, Burkina Faso? $833 (Feb 25, 8 nights, Turkish Airlines, free hotel in Istanbull on stopover).

Throw a few things in a duffel bag and stay in hostels. The whole trip for less than a thousand.

go to cheap carribean, and see home much an All Inclusive vacation to the Dominican Republics Punta Cana or Bayahibe region is going for. food and drinks, a nice beach, what more can you ask for out of a vacation?

Keep in mind, if you take this vacation during school mid winter recess or (17-24 of feb), the rates will go up.

How about San Antonio and Austin? We spent a week there last February and had a wonderful time. Inexpensive airfare and reasonably priced hotels. Weather was in the 70's and lovely for walking around.

Weather can be also in the 20's, tho this is a nice destination with lots to do (I prefer during Christmas Lighting Trail (Hill Country TX))

I do Valentine's Day in Loveland, CO (where the weather can also be 70F or 20F)

For nice weather (usually) I do San Diego

LV / Death Valley I wait till Wild Flowers (March / April)

Feb is a bit tough to find special events / climate (but they exist)
