Hi, I'm looking for suggestions for a vacation spot along the eastern shore of Lake Erie, between Niagara Falls and Cleveland, this August. Sandusky area is also possible, if nothing is further north. We have 4-5 days and would like to spend it at a comfortable hotel or resort on or with access to the lake, but also with some other activities nearby. Not looking for a Ripley's Believe It or Not type tourist trap - more something natural and quaint, similar to the North Carolina beach areas, if such a thing exists on Lake Erie. Money is not a big issue. Thanks for any ideas!

We spent a couple of days in Sandusky last summer. We found a nice quiet beach. Sandusky is touristy, geared mostly for families with children because of the roller coaster theme parks and the indoor water parks. We didn't do any of that, but we did find some "nature" stuff that we enjoyed. There are also ferries to other islands, which we didn't do. Next time, I would like to visit Thomas Edison's childhood home. It's not a big deal, but something you see if you are in the area.
