New-Mona, are you monaliza???? If so, thank you for the note about the cookies! I am trying to get one of my husband's relatives to go to Carre-four and ask at the cookie counter for me!!!!!
I went to Egypt this summer. I missed the museum. but the pyramids were something else. Unbelievable.
Khan Al Khalili was very cool too. I didn't have enough time there, I could have had two more days there. Also, I don't know if all of the old section of Cairo (Islamic Cairo, i think) is like this place, but I went to Sharia Al khiyamaya , the street of the tentmakers, near the gate of Bab Zwela. it was amazing. Tiny little streets, and the alley where I went was full of handmade quilts/pillowcases/wall hangings, etc... just beautiful, with either geometric/islamic designs, or floral, or other scenes. I went there for wall hangings but the experience was so rich. My father in law is about 70 and he said he had never been there in his life.
The Qait Bey citadel in Alexandria was nice, and so was the alexandria library. they have a printing press/copier thing there that can apparently print a full sized novel in 20 minutes, but it is not operational right now (probably having major problems w/copywrite laws).
The Mediterranian Sea. It was amazing. I never saw water so blue. Just gorgeous.
I didn't get to go to Urgada or the south, but we will go back again hopefully in December next time when it is not so hot.
