I am looking for the following in April:

1. somewhere WARM (in the US)
2. somewhere NOT in Texas as we live here already
3. somewhere Southwest Airlines flies
4. somewhere with a good public transportation or an area we could get around without a car
5. somewhere like a resort with activites for kids maybe?

One year we went to Tan-Tar-A in Missouri. It is a hotel, water park, mini golf, bowling alley, all on a lake. The reason for my #1 though is that even though we were on Spring Break we ended up in a blizzard. So looking for a similar type place in the south??

Southwest flies to Orlando, Florida, and if you can't find something there for the kids, they'll never be happy.

If you choose Orlando, the only place you would be able to get around without a car is Disney.
Staying on Disney property is the most convienent way to do this.

How old are the kids? What are the interests?

Isn't it warm at the Grand Canyon by then?

How about a 3-4 day cruise? I know ships sail out of Galveston--don't know what itinerary they use, but I'm sure there's something good! And they all head south!

CB we did a cruise this time last year. My son and I are holding out for that new Royal Carribean ship due out next year. My daughter is 18 in Chicago and we are in Austin, my son is 12. So we want to meet somewhere for Easter weekend. My kids grew up at amusement parks ... so they are kinda over that. I was thinking somewhere in California and my coworkers said San Fran but then mentioned that it would be chilly there. We were orginally going to go to Detroit and see a Wings game then go on to Toronto but it's been too cold this year I don't trust the weather in the north!

Hello dude ! Skyline Hotel & Suites in Wisconsin Dells is a family lodging resort overlooking Wisconsin’s largest waterpark – Mt. Olympus – that offers deluxe rooms and suites, two swimming pools and Wisconsin Dells value getaway vacation packages. I think this is the best pace for you. You could visit Tampa Florida which does have Busch Gardens, howevere the bus service isnot so great.
However, you could manage by taxi and walking. It will be warm and Southwest does fly here. It als
is not too far away. Boston is always great to visit, but it may be cold there, however, the public
transportation is great, as is New York.

Hard to beat Disney. They have four major theme parks....plus anything else you can imagine. A breeze without a vehicle. Also, they have the special going on that if you purchase 4 nights....you get 3 free. Tourism is down. Now is the time to take advantage of the great sales.

San Diego (SeaWorld, beaches, etc) or equivalent city down in southern Cali
Hawaii (don't know the cities but I'm sure if you stay close to the city, there'll be public transportation)
