well, it depends on a variety of things......
are you considering the costs? when is the trip? from where? what are you looking for? (girls/guys? or adventure? or the beach?)

Anyway, I've been to La romana as well as Punta cana. I've also been to Oahu and Kauai in Hawaii.

If you want beautiful clear water beaches, as well as nice all inclusive hotels, choose punta cana.
If you want scenary, pretty sunsets, lush mountains, lots of hiking and activities, choose Kauai (personal favorite).
If you want lots of shopping, lots of other young people, pretty girls in the streets "working", choose Oahu (honolulu).
If you want cheaper caribbean experience, not as clear/white sandy beaches, good all inclusive hotels, choose La romana

:-)

hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers.

are you considering the costs? Yes I am, but I'm sure DR will probably cost less than Honolulu

when is the trip? I dont, there is a group of people going to DR in June, and if I go to hawaii, that would be in september

from where? I'm on the east coast in Maryland

I love the Dominican. Its such a good value for what you pay. The people are so nice and the beaches are absolutely beautiful.

They are not even close to each other except being islands. DR is carribean and Hawaii is south pacific. Two diffrent feels, flavors, culture, atmosphere, adventure, and Food.
Which to pick depends all on what you are looking for.

If you havent been to either and money is your biggest decision factor as it is for a lot of folks, go to the Dominican. Its an awesome experience and there a lot of deals. Hawaii will always be there.

Look at it this way. The two are different types of locations like Europe and Asia. or Canada to Brazil, or Egypt to South Africa. get the picture?
