Police Shootings of Suspects (case, FBI, famous, people)

Many times the general public complains over an officer involved shooting. Saying it was "over the top." Or, "Too many rounds were fired. " Mostly by persons who were not there and by persons who have no clue what the police officers training is. Here is a classic example:

Despite outnumbering the suspects 4 to 1, the agents found themselves pinned down by rifle fire and unable to respond effectively. Although both Matix and Platt were hit multiple times during the firefight, Platt fought on and continued to injure and kill agents. This incident led to the introduction of more powerful handguns in the FBI and many police departments around the United States."

This shooting gives rise to law enforcment to shoot and shoot a lot. Make sure your suspect is down and out of the fight. Just because they took one or two rounds, doesn't mean they aren't capable of committing great bodily harm. When you come across a suspect, who is armed, and is refusing to disarm, swift deadly force MUST be used to eliminate the threat. If not, you are putting others at risk.

On occasion, they also shoot non-suspects who become suspects after the fact.

Actually, that's not a classic example. It's a very unusual deviation from the norm.

That would be like posting the Wikipedia link to the Amadou Diallo case, and claiming that the police shooting an unarmed man 19 times 'classic example' of a police shooting. That, too, was a very unusual deviation from the norm. Having nothing but contempt for shallow strawman arguments, I won't link to that case and call it a 'classic example'.

There are justified shootings and unjustified shootings. People shouldn't condemn the former, and you should stop flailing away at your strawman in order to excuse the latter.
