Hey everyone - I'd like to know if you might be able to suggest some places similar and cheaper to the Extended Stay on 5050 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712. Their rates are pretty high.

I was looking for a similar cheaper establishment and setup (fridge/microwave/stovetop-hotplates) for a month -

I need to go the University Medical Center area and its nearby streets (Campbell/Alvenron/University) and I wouldn't mind a 15-20 minute commute by car. Thanks for any input!

You might've looked at their rates during the gem show in February. They're always way higher at this time.

I see... but unfortunately that doesn't help my situation Asides craigslist - I was just hoping to see what other options there were (like the extended stay and 15-20 min drive to UMC) because I've never traveled to Tucson.

Well, there are plenty of cheap motels that have weekly rates, but they're not normally in safe and pleasant areas. That's the case in any city. Unfortunately, the online version of the paper doesn't seem to show them. Here it is, though, just in case I missed them: Tucson, AZ | Tucson, AZ Shopping | Newspaper Ads Online | Ad Categories

Most of these motels must have fridges and microwaves, and you can buy a hotplate, if you need it.

Thanks for that link - hopefully someone else might be able to provide some other names similar to the Extended Stay Corporation in that area -

Okay - how about the Blue Agave Apartments on north avenue? - "better" than those two?

I'm just the messenger. Most people know they get what they pay for. Oh, and the messenger is done delivering messages.

Wow: Blue Agave, a motel on Drachman, Studio 6. You're really scraping the bottom there, honestly.
Check out Craig's List's sublet section. Tucson is a tourist economy so there are a lot of options if you can go a full month. There are quite a few around the university as well, especially on its west side.
If that doesn't work for you, I've stayed for periods at the Crossland on the south side and it wasn't really that bad, particularly if you compare it to other Crossland locations. The Extended Stay America on Grant shouldn't be that bad either. However, they're not exactly cheap, particularly for what you usually end up getting.
