Found some acreage, going for it. Any info on the area or commute that a transplant wouldn't likely know off hand? Is it cowboy area, or what? anything going on out there, or just empty, dusty roads? Any random info would be helpful. I have spent time in Tucson and around Ryan Airfield area, but that's about it. Have kids, any ANY thing over there that they'd be into, or are we in for a trip to the city for all that?

Thanks, all..

I have heard a Walmart will be going in near the McDonalds. That will be nice. The commute into Tucson is what it is and the road isn't that heavily traveled. Seems like an area where a couple of big dogs would be nice. I like the area but I would definitely have at least one big dog that barks minimum. Great area for enjoying the great Sonoran Desert.

keep the kids busy and away from the "wrong element"....(not that the wrong element is solely in Three Points).....and at least keep that suggested dog inside or quiet at night!.....good luck out there and I'm sure it'll be great

Three Points/Robles Junction is in the boonies, at least right now. Some negatives:
-Heavy border activity coming through the Altar Valley (and west throughout the Tohono O'Odham Reservation)
-SR 86 is dangerous with lots of impatient people passing and rolling the dice with oncoming traffic.
-There is little infrastructure. Right now there are only a couple of dollar stores and an ace hardware.

I'm not sure what kids do for fun out that way.

Just one question, Famlife . . . "Why so far out?"

Depending on your present or recent locations, being "out in the boonies" here can be a real shocker.

Heck, being "in town" in areas of Tucson can be a real shocker as well.

Do a google search useing the phrase "body found three points tucson". There are a lot of stories about dead people out in that area. Still its the desert and your away from the noise and lights of the city.

Not sure where your land it. There are some nice areas, mostly away from 86 and higher up, and some less safe areas.
Have you checked out the ratings for the Altar Valley school system? School ratings were published this week.
Depends on what you and your kids want to do whether you will have to drive into town.

3 points is pretty shady... also their schools are horrible if thats a factor for you. Only positive about that area is land size, period.

One of your neighbor will be Dan Ethridge, he owns a hog farm there. He is also a former member of the Oakland Raiders and the principal of an elementary school near there. He is a very solid fellow.
