Hey all, it's me again

Day two in Tucson and I'm soooo depressed and homesick it's not even funny

So to take my mind off of the lonliness I've decided to go to Mt. Lemmon. Now I live off of Grand Rd. on the east side of town so it's not that far but I'm worried that I may not make it up there since my car has had absolutely no experience going uphill. So to all that have scaled Mt. Lemmon via the Catalina Hwy route with a compact Front wheel drive car could you give me some advice or is it eve possible?

Thanks everyone; oh and by the way is the drive worth it???

Depends on whether you like the outdoors or not. I love the outdoors so I spend a lot of time up there. Lot's of trails and trees, totally different than what you see down here.
Your car won't have any problems.

You just got here and you're depressed and homesick? Sounds like you were not completely ready for the move. On the brighter side, get out there and see the beautiful scenery and meet some new people. That should help.

It's going on 2 years since I moved out here and no homesickness yet...LOL
.....but I moved from Cleveland, Ohio, I bet that has a lot to do with it.

The drive up Catalina Highway is absolutely worth it! Enjoy it!

Did you check out El Cubanito yet?

Thanks for the info

It's not that I was not ready for the move it's just that I know that I need this move to advance my career as far as education and experience but at the same time its hard to let go as well. I'm sure many people react differently as well.

By the way, where is El Cubanito?

The drive is quite pretty since it goes through different elevations with different vegetation. It's just a regular uphill road... paved and all... I drive a Camry and it makes it just fine.

Summerhaven used to be more beautiful, but they had a huge wild fire a few years ago. A lot has been rebuilt, though. There's a lift on the top. I like riding it. Btw, it's a LOT cooler there. I'd wait till next month to go - when it really heats up here it's nice to go and cool off there. If you go now, take a jacket.

Have to say the top up there is pretty horrid because of all the fire damage. The drive up is great though (and any car should be able to do it).

Well, I don't know if you've been up this year but they did get a lot of snow this year and it's very green right now. There are few places where you see fire damage now.

No, not since last August.
Thanks for the update - that's good to know.

Cool! So I've got a Cuban restaraunt and an idea of how Mt. Lemmon is. Things are looking up

I actually was feeling like crap while I was unpacking sierra; mostly because everything reminded me of home. That, and my cat's meowing because he was home sick as well didn't help matters much anyways.

So now since the road up the Mt. is not that bad (supposedly) would it be possible that I could ride up the Mt. on my Mt. bike?? I ride alot so it's not that crazy of a concept but just for reference sake. Also, how long would it take to get up the Mt. say from Tanque Verde? Bike and car??
