You're incorrect. The University of Arizona Medical school opened a new, second campus in Phoenix, in addition to the main campus in Tucson. Also, University Physicians recently merged with Banner Health in Phoenix, and the program expansion is going to be huge. (Arizona State University has no medical school and will not be having one in the future.)

My experience at the UA was terrific; I loved pretty much everything about it, and I still do.

Our son graduated from the UofA in 2010, in just 3 1/2 years. It never would have happened had he not been part of the SALT Program. Perhaps his learning specialist was different, but she met with him more than just 30 minutes each week. She helped him plan his schedules, was really responsible for helping him select his major, and provided encouragement as he made the transition to college. There were some challenging times and she helped him through them. As parents, my wife and I did have regular communication with the learning specialist to make sure that we would support any needs that our son had. Our son particularly benefitted from the tutoring, which in his case was extensive. This really got him through his first two years, and then his needs tapered off in his upper class years. We have openly commented on the value of the SALT Program. It is a special program which deserves all the recognition it can get. In reviewing some of the negative experiences referenced above, I would agree that there is always the possibility that one could have a bad experience with over-zealous administrators. But that was not our experience.
