Actually, we have the little darlings in Texas, too, but mainly in west Texas. I've seen photos in National Geographic where they cover the road.

Mostly, I see Black Widows. I have an in-ground pool and they like to laze in the overhang where the coping meets the tile. Beastly critters, one and all.

I've seen quite a lot of lizards, rabbits, quail, wasps, and ants. This is the first (wild) tarantula I've ever seen.

Wow! I hope I get to see a tarantula when I finally make it to Tucson. I might poop myself just a little bit, but still, how cool is it to live in a place where you see that?!
