I will be in Tulsa on Saturday, I know it will be hot and I was wondering what are some good lakes or rivers where people go swimming in the area, I will be heading out of Tulsa, towards NW Arkansas on Sunday, so something between Tulsa and Rogers would be ideal. Please let me know

In Tulsa stay away from all the Rivers , but do try Lake Keystone and
Lake Skiatook...Oklahoma BEST Lake is GRAND LAKE which is between
Tulsa and (Walmartville Northwest Arkansas) if you have a lot of time
on your hands try Lake Ft. Gibson..Lake Hudson..Tenkiller Lake also.

Lake Eufaula is south of Tulsa and below Interstate 40 and is the
largest Lake In Oklahoma and worth a look..check it out also. Now
if you still have to swim in a RIVER..The Illnois River (Near Tahlequah Ok)
is the best RIVER in the state of Oklahoma.

If you prefer streams or creeks there's a good swimming hole that isn't far off of your route from Tulsa to Rogers, AR. It's called the Blue Hole. Some say it's the coldest water in Oklahoma, but it isn't.

Anyway, East on Hyw 412, exit at the Locust Grove exit and travel north to Salina, OK. There's a small hyw out of Salina that will put you traveling east toward Kenwood. I forget the hyw number but anyone in Salina can direct you to the Blue Hole.

Have fun!

Easiest and most convenient would be Flint Creek which is about 7 miles west of Siloam Springs. If you're eastbound on 412, it will be on your left at the bottom of the valley.

Thanks! I went to Blue Hole and it was a lot of fun, the water was ice cold and I loved the place, it was packed on Sunday afternoon, I am really considering moving to Oklahoma in a couple years, very interesting state!

Fabulous!! I'm glad you discovered Blue Hole and had fun. I gripe a lot about Oklahoma, but honestly..........we're pretty cool here. We have a great mix of people and our state has much ecological diversity. Everything from the red dirt and flat lands of western OK to the Ozarks of far NE OK. I'm glad you had fun!

There are sand beaches at Lakes Skiatook and Keystone. Skiatook is smaller but has much clearer water. Both are surrounded by forested hills and are scenic lakes less than 30 min. from downtown Tulsa.

I also recommend Spring Creek if you're looking for a clear stream to go swimming or kayaking. There are several access points along the creek near Locust Grove. The Illinois River is also fun in the summer for rafting/kayaking/canoeing and is near Tahlequah. Both are in the Ozarks about an hour from Tulsa.
