I am heading to NM Mountains tomorrow from Plano. I am considering a move to Tulsa or NWA. My wife did not make the trip to visit Tulsa / NWA last weekend. I am considering driving to Tulsa with my wife to see some of the areas in Tulsa I liked (74137, Jenks, and DT Tulsa). I will spend a night in Tulsa then drive to Angel Fire NM on Sunday.

Has anyone made this drive and can tell me the speed limits on this route? I assume the turnpike portion nominally from Tulsa to I35 is divided and at least 70mph?

For reference I drive 610 miles from Plano to NM mostly on US 287 a few times a year. I make that drive in just over 9 hours. But most of it is divided US highway 287 with a 75 mph but of course goes through small towns with much lower limits.

I see the distance is about the same on the Tulsa to NM route and assume I can do it in 10 hours? We pack a lunch to avoid stops and count on two restroom and refueling stops but nothing else.

Thanks in Advance

I haven't driven it in several years but used to twice a year on average. You'll go through a few small to medium sized towns that will slow you down briefly but mostly it is wide open spaces (much of it 2 lane). Fill your tank before you start across the panhandle. Mostly 60 to 65 mph limits.
