I am still deciding between NWA and Tulsa to move to after 7 years retired in DFW after living in Houston for 30 years. I am from OK and graduated from OSU not too far from Tulsa.

I am leaning toward NWA but as we age and our home in Plano ( built in 1999) has maintenance come up I have shifted to looking in Tulsa again at newer construction as well as considering high rise living where the hassle is handled by someone else for a nice big hoa fee lol.

I see a neighborhood we liked in South Tulsa, well really its Bixby I believe. I wondered how this zip. 74008 which is Bixby but close to 74137 a recommended zip in Tulsa. The neighborhood is called Graystone. Its safety stats look same as 74137 according to realtor.com. Do you agree? Is this area equivalent to 74137 from a safety, desirability, perception etc stand point?

My price range is $600k to $1000k and commute isnt critical as I am retired but we would like to be close to shopping and restaurants etc. I am not only looking at gated areas but am more than open to them as the HOA fee, price points etc all seem equivalent.

One additional neighbor hood question. How do neighborhoods around Southern Hills compare in safety, perception, etc? Does gated matter here? I believe this area is Tulsa schools so know that is a big difference perhaps on resale since we do not need schools at this life stage for our own family use.

Thanks in Advance.

That part of 74008, Graystone, is a nice area and a nice neighborhood. I would place it in the same box as some of the neighborhoods in 74137.

We looked at a few listings near Southern Hills. They needed a ton of work and we were still a good distance to the amenities we desired. Just our own preference.

Thanks for the feedback. We would like a newer home to avoid major maintenance items at this age. While we have no children to leave a house to or to help us interface with repairs folks, we could get to the point where we need extended living or move to a high rise to resale ease is a factor too.
