I am a huge fan of the Godfather movies, mainly Godfather I and II. Number III, I could live without. I've noticed lately that these movies seem to be played over and over again on the Bravo channel. What gives? Are they trying to ruin my overall love for these movies by consistently throwing them in my face? Yes. Yes. It's easy enough to change the channel, but nonetheless, I believe these movies deserve a bit more respect when it comes to broadcasting them. After all....It's the Godfather, not some low budget Steven Sagal flick! There seem to be some movies that make the cut for one yearly viewing...The Sound of Music, Gone with the Wind, The Ten Commandments (understandably so), etc., etc. Does the Godfather not rate in quality?

Bravo, and the other cable channels, have a tendency to run things into the ground again and again before moving on to the next thing. They do it mostly to catch the non-Tivo viewers who are happy to have it on. It's not so much a question of is it what you want to watch as what is the least of all other programming on. No doubt about it, The Godfather series is a big deal and the serialized TV version is actually very good for an edited-for-TV series because Coppola directed the editing of it himself. The frequent replays may be overkill but it's a version of the trilogy you won't find on DVD.
