I loved Xena and Hercules! I liked Tru Calling and was very disppointed when they yanked it. Another one I liked was Doll House. I found that one very interesting too. Most of the shows mentioned were "must see tv" for me.

In 2002 the WB aired a show called Birds of Prey, from the creators of Smallville. I really enjoyed the show and was upset when it was cancelled after only half a season, If given a chance I though it would have been a great series, it's on Netflix if you want to give it a try.
