Love Deadline, Japanese dating show where only the women can “propose” , and the men can be pulled from the show without warning (to speed up the get to know you part and encourage decision making by the women).
So far so good, except for the woman who openly stated she wants a man who makes more than 30M yen yearly ($197k USD). All the men were dumbfounded by this except the one guy who says he drives a Ferrari, but thinks this woman is too pushy. So for the first date, this woman didn’t get any takers.
I’m watching the Chinese adaptation of the book on Amazon. It came out before the Westernized version on Netflix. Apparently, it follows the book more closely.
The book does include the Cultural Revolution incident, but not at the beginning. Of course, in the United States where officially everything the Chinese do is evil, this means that the author was trying to “bury it” to hide it from the censors. As if the censors only read the beginning of books.
The author of the books, Cixin Liu, said there are only two events in recent history terrible enough to destroy Ye Wenjie's humanness & to betray mankind: The Holocaust and The Cultural Revolution.
Ripley. I loved the first episode and the B&W 1961 NYC portrayed there. I felt it. Just finished episode 2 and still watching.

Ripley. B&W noir, mesmerizing. One of those you can't stop watching. Only two episodes left, which I'll burn through tonight. This should win all manner of awards. The cinematography is amazing. Andrew Scott as the reptilian Ripley outstanding. Don't miss it!
Just finished "Ripley". Have to agree the show was brilliant and had me engaged from beginning to end. In my opinion, previous adaptations of the story, including the Matt Damon movie (which I did like), don't hold a candle to this one.
I finished Ripley, loved it. found the characters a little different than the Talented Mr. Ripley, seems Marge liked tom Better in the first one than this new one. Tom was great. Amazing character. So cunning and believable.

Have to agree - brilliant is the best descriptor. Think I tried to watch the Matt Damon version long ago - but couldn't stay with it. Don't even want to try now.
As an art form, the current Ripley is magnificent.
