I did watch The Carrie Diaries and thought it was a good show. I was disappointed when they canceled it.
I enjoyed the Carrie Diaries (esp. the Samantha character, who was really like an early version of her SATC counterpart), but they got the 80's ALL WRONG. None of those characters ever looked like they lived in the 80's. It was a sanitized 2000's version of the 80's created by someone who was born in the 90's.
My favorite show on the CW was Buffy, the last two seasons were terrible, but it had moved to UPN at that point. Also enjoyed Angel, Supernatural (first 6 seasons). There was one show that debuted in 2002 that I loved, but was cancelled too quickly, Birds of Prey, I thought the CW dropped the ball on that one. Currently love watching the Flash, Arrow (this past season was a mess though) and the 100.

In my list of shows in the original post, I only included shows the CW network (including the six that made the transition from the older WB network and UPN network.
Following is a list of dramas that were on the WB and UPN and finished before the CW was created in 2006 (which merged the older networks). The more popular shows (first six) created TV stars that are on TV or movies today.
Dramas on UPN and WB (from 1995 -2006) that DID NOT make the transition to CW.
Felicity! I loved that show! Hottie Jake Ballard from Scandal wasn't so hot to me back then. Greg Grumann(sp) always makes me think of Felicity and the girl on Flash Point, Jules.
Nobody watches a lot of CW show. The Flash, Arrow and Supernatural are the only shows that average more than 2 million viewers.
Other shows like iZombie and Jane the Virgin are critically acclaimed. When 'Jane the Virgin' star Gina Rodriguez won the Golden Globe , none of the newscasters had seen the show.
CW shows are a king of exercise in long term hope. The advertising revenue is very low, and the actors are all very young and attractive. The network makes money on the few hits that circulate in the public consciousness and bring returns on DVD and streaming sales. The actors hope to get the fame to transition to more lucrative shows in the future.
cw is my favorite network. i watch most of their shows.
