An oldie but goodie: Hawaii Five-O. That monster wave, those flashes of tropical scenery quick-jumping to modern city scenes (establishing the show's whole trouble in modern-day paradise theme from the get-go), the driving beat of the music rushing to its crescendo. This is the one. The gold standard for television show openings past, present, and future.
For me it will always be the "train wreck" scene from the original Fugitive (1962-67, the late David Janssen and Barry Morse, with William Conrad narrating) -- a near-perfect picture of an era about to end due to the upheavals of the late Sixties.
I always admired how the opening titles for The Nanny were perfect for that show. Not only did it summarize the premise of the series and introduce the characters, it had that madcap sense of humor that ran through the sitcom.
I love the visuals, the sound effects, the music. TNG was my favorite of all the Star Trek series.
