She warned us that the brutal images in "Roots" could lead to worrisome student agitation. It didn't, much to everyone's surprise.

I think the images in the first episode of "Underground" are more brutal and quite realistic.

I applaud shows like this. Even as we so often celebrate our accomplishments, America needs to never forget a not so golden past at some points in our history.

speaking of roots, there's a remake coming in may; forgot what channel. forrest whitaker is in it.

The only thing that I've questioned so far were the Indians involved in one of the episodes. It's just something that hadn't ever occurred to me. But, after reading one article, it seems plausible.

I certainly haven't found anything that seemed historically incorrect.

Underground is great.

Now why didn't this thread take off like some of the otherwise?

Not sure, I guess there just too much on TV these days.

I watched the finale last night, this is a very interesting story line. I hate waiting until 2017 for the next season though...

I think you're right, Tom. With all the cable channels (both big and small), I think there are many programs out there that I'm simply not finding out about. It's gotten so that this forum and tvbythenumbers are the two sources that help me stumble upon some of these limited series.

It's a very interesting show, excellent cinematography and script. The Era it depicts is late in Slavery, imagine the horrors of what took place in the 2 Centuries (200+yrs) before the Era this show depicts.

Yes. Wow...humdinger of an episode!

I was not surprised that Alano Miller's character turned out to be alive, although I was beginning to wonder.

I think Smollett's character now is going to be very interesting as she begins to work with Harriet Tubman.

yes I thought that was harriet tubman that reached out to rosalee in that wagon . I do wonder what will become of august and Ernestine ? I like Ernestine and she made sure to exact her revenge on the master of the plantation did she not ? Oh yes and I want to see the mistress of the plantation get hers as well .
