They shared a passionate kiss last night. My husband checked the guide to make sure we were watching Masterpiece.

I liked the last episode with Victoria and Albert getting lost and being able to act like a normal couple for one evening.

Ummm.... maybe you are thinking of the Julie Andrews show with a similar name, "Victor/Victoria"?

Uh no, Victoria had two of the characters share a kiss while Lady Coke watched. She didn't seem to act any different when she saw them later so I'm wondering if she is planning some sort of blackmail.

What were the consequences back then for being gay? Were you banished to the Tower of London or was it off with your head? Lady C did not seem the least bit shocked by the behavior.

It was an open secret for a lot of members of the aristocracy (heck "buggery" was almost a right of passage at the boarding schools of the day,) but legally it was punishable by death until the mid-19th century and by imprisonment after that. (and that's for men. Women weren't supposed to be sexual at that time, so lesbians weren't really a threat.)

One the more notable trials of the 19th Century.

Victoria had nine of them, so it's highly likely.

Just watched the season final episode (like Downton Abbey, the Christmas episode). Really love the show. I am assuming (and hoping) there will be more seasons????
