I used to prefer Friends, but some of the episodes for me have gotten old and boring for the most part. Seinfeld, on the other hand, is much looser and I laugh out loud at almost every episode, whether I've seen them or not. Just curious what your guys opinions are.
Seinfeld for me...partly my age and the setting. I was 37 when Seinfeld started and I had a couple neighborhood pubs I frequented.
By the time Friends came along I was 42 with 3 daughters ages 8,11 and 12 and I just didn't watch as much TV plus the setting/plot of friends was harder for me to relate to.
I'll be in the minority who prefers Friends reruns, can't get into Seinfeld anymore. Friends captured the pre-911, roaring 90s vibe that we all should miss. We still had optimism, we only saw good things from new technology, not the dangers we see today. It was also mostly before our politics became so divisive.
Granted Friends hinted at the sad gentrification that came to Manhattan and robbed it of so much culture and excitement. But to watch it nowadays is light escapism with appealing actors. Their friendships really could be touching while Seinfeld's were sniveling. And no offense to Julia Louise Dreyfus, but she couldn't compete with Jennifer Aniston for sexual attractiveness (few can even at Jen's current age).
But I'll admit Seinfeld could be more creative. Although when I think of Jerry, George and especially Kramer, they are all well past their comedic expiration dates. The comedy in Friends was more matter-of-fact and organic and has aged better for me.

Good with both. “Friends” episodes tend to be more consistent, but the best episodes of “Seinfeld” easily beat those of the other show. “Friends” only has a few truly unwatchable episodes, while “Seinfeld” has several.
