I'm up through episode 5 now, watching it on the nbc website. Not sure if I like the show content or if I just like watching Manny Montana.
It was funny to see him explaining math to Beth's kid. It'll be interesting to see his backstory, why he got into crime since he's seemingly intelligent and at least somewhat educated.
Does Rio want to die rather than go to prison? I'm not sure I understand what his goal is here.
Maybe the gun is not loaded, and he just wants to see if Beth has what it takes and will have her take over his empire while he's away.
I was confused with the ending.
Rio said something like "you didn't think this through; you want to be the king, you gotta kill the king". But Beth's husband was all roughed up, and Beth pleaded with Rio to not kill them (meaning Beth and her husband). Rio then said something like "I'm not killing anybody....you are" and then slid the gun across the table to Beth.
I was under the impression that Rio wanted Beth to shoot/kill her husband. Or was Rio challenging Beth to shoot/kill him (Rio)?

And how is Rio out of jail?
Beth's husband was never the king, was he? She pretty much rules the house.
Rio and his gang have tons of money. Guess the judge set bail too low.

Nah, Rio is the king. I thought it was confusing because it felt like 2 separate conversations. It was right after Beth pleaded with Rio to not kill them (Beth and Beth's husband) when Rio slid the gun across the table and said he (Rio) wasn't killing anybody. It seemed to me that Rio wanted Beth to kill her husband. But I don't know.
As for bail, dangerous gang people usually aren't given a bail option.
There were so many good scenes in the season finale. I loved when Rio went into the diner and approached the FBI guy. And when Mary Pat kept asking Boomer why he tried to rape Annie. And when Beth told the story about going back to Canada to see Big Mike and bringing back wrapping paper (I'm not sure she was joking).
