There is this magical thing called a remote control. Now, having said that...years ago I was obsessed with a show called "Weeds". I made sure my child was in bed before I turned that one on, I didn't have DVR then. I had a magical remote control that either turned it on or didn't.
Well I guess my problem is, is that it feels like a clash of tones when the sex and nudity is inserted in. Like for example, with Game of Thrones, it wants to be this big epic drama like Braveheart (1995), but then when the sex and nudity comes, it feels like Caligula (1979), and you can't have both, cause combining such different tones is having your cake and eating it too.
I don’t have cable. But I can give an example that frustrated me. In the first season of GOT, Littlefinger is explaining an important story for the show while 2 of his whores were “training” with each other. He was just speaking over while the 2 girls are going at it. I personally thought it was pretty bizarre and the first time I skipped over it (not realizing how important the dialogue was), and later when rewatching the show I did watch the scene and realized it was actually pretty important.
I’m not against sex and nudity, but I do think shows can go too far imo and I think shows with poor storylines do occasionally use sex and nudity as an attempt to lure people back in. Another show that I nearly didn’t watch was Aziz Azaris Netflix show because of the first opening scene. It ended up being a hilarious show and I really liked it, but that opening scene made me wonder what the rest of the show would be like.
