Nelle likely thinks that since Ava also hates Carly that they could be allies, if not friends. The problem is that Nelle is never truly friends with anybody. She will play friendly in order to get what she needs, then stab the person in the back the minute they are no longer useful. So Ava humors the young thing, hoping maybe that Nelle will 'take care' of the Carly problem. When Nelle starts blackmailing Ava to help her in her campaign against Carly, she takes her life in her hands--but then, Nelle's already taken her life in her hands when tangling with Sonny. She likely thinks she's invulnerable. But Ava is NOT Sonny by a mile. Ava would have shut Nelle down (or at least shut her UP) long ago, but like I said, Ava kind of likes the idea of having Carly out of her hair and seems willing to put up with Nelle's attempts at pushing her around if the result is getting rid of Carly. But like the cat playing with the mouse, one good swipe from Ava and Nelle would be outta there faster than you can say 'Connie Falconeri'.
OK, now we know about that blanket lol. Since we all saw it, it was clear someone in attendance had to have taken it, and that could only have been Ava.
Still, I don't get the "leverage" she thinks she now has with Nelle, because revealing that to authorities would only make Ava look complicit in Nelle's scheme--which she was.
In any event, they appear headed towards no trial, which probably means a loony bin somewhere--other than one in PC. Because, if what I'm hearing is correct...

Wow, the same thing happened to Claudia Blaisdel on the Dynasty reboot two weeks ago.
Spoiler
She got committed to an institution for the criminally insane after her husband Matthew was killed....only to have Matthew there, declaring his love for her once again. Of course we found out in the cliffhanger Matthew was still dead and Claudia was just hallucinating his return the whole time. Alas, these kinds of things happen....
Speaking of reboots, it can't be coincidental that Carly took that plunge down the stairs herself long ago, with AJ as the "perpetrator"...I just wonder if Nelle knew about this piece of Carly's sordid past and decided to relive past glories...or if the only people remembering and reliving it are the writers. Monica certainly mentioned it; after all, it's her house...Alan gave it to her! and she doesn't mind pointing out Carly's misdeeds to anyone who will listen.

I agree. When Ava backed up Nelle's story that there wasn't a blanket, she just screwed herself. She will be cutting her own throat if she reveals it now. Especially if she does it after Carly goes to trial, jail, or whatever.
Gotta say, this storyline is interesting. Now the question is who does Michael believe?
Another Nurses Ball in the books ... thank goodness they didn't sing that stupid "Welcome to the Nurses' Ball" song!!
Best of nurses ball imo Mike and Sonny singing Summer Wind, it actually brought tears to my eyes. An Emmy winning performance in my book
