In response to the "reality tv is making all our minds turn to mush!!!" thread, , I thought we could laugh for a moment.....and walk down Memory Lane a bit......
I loved Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley, when I was growing up. They were just too funny to me. John Ritter in Three's Company had the physical comedy down pat, IMO.
I'm trying to recall some great laugh-out-loud shows from back in the day.....
I think great sitcoms come in cycles. To be honest, while the late 60s and early 70s had All In The Family, Green Acres (A show that was truly ahead of its time. An incredibly surreal show. Go back and watch it, and you'll see what I mean), the Bob Newhart Show, Mary Tyler Moore, and WKRP in Cincinnati.
Then you had a lot of dreck through the rest of the 70s. Then you got the 80s and had another spate of good shows.
Recently, I think Fraser and Arrested Development take the cake as most brilliant shows. Also, even though it's still going on, The Simpsons are an amazing show. How have they been able to produce a show so consistently great for so cotton-picking long?
Taxi, Barney Miller, WKRP, Cheers and the one that never gets old the Honeymooners
