I'm still watching, but I agree that the show isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Seasons 1-3 were fantastic. Seasons 4 onward were okay.
My biggest problem with the show is that Raylan started out as a likeable guy with an edge. Since about Season 4, they've been turning him into an unlikeable guy with an edge. I find myself rooting for Boyd because Raylan has become downright unlikeable.
The only real "couple" on this show is Raylan and Boyd. Those are the two that should walk off into the sunset together in the last episode of the show.
I'm concerned that Elmore Leonard's death changed how they could end the show. If he was still living, they would have to keep Raylan alive presuming Leonard might write another book or short story about him. Now, the show could end by Raylan's tombstone, er headstone, with the music, "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" playing as they roll the final credits.

I wouldn't worry about that. The TV show has always taken off in its own direction. In the original short story, Boyd died in episode 1 when Raylan shot him. And that was actually the original intention of the TV show, until the producers (and Elmore Leonard) realized how spectacular Walter Groggins was in the role, so they brought him back.

It was more than a cameo. He was in six episodes and appeared as much in those episodes as, say, Hayley McFarland, Scott Anderson or Marilyn Manson.
Correct - and he was awesome, especially when you compare how
non-stereotypical the 2 roles are. Any actor can be the same character,
but it takes real talent to crossover (No pun intended)
I think part of the problem is that Goggins is so specific in Justified that it was exceedingly difficult to see him as anything other than Boyd having some very weird dream.
I did not experience it that way. In fact, I didn't even realize it was him
until about his 3rd. appearance on SOA. So I checked the credits and
couldn't believe my lying eyes.
I looked at the IMDb pages for the main actors on Justified and was surprised to see that Timothy Olyphant hasn't been doing any acting/has no acting projects in the works. Nick Searcy and Walton Goggins have been busy since Justified filming ended. I'm very surprised by this. Does anyone know if this was a deliberate decision (to take some time off) on Olyphant's part? He had a movie that came out in 2014 but he's not listed in the top 5 actors in the cast and he had to have finished filming it awhile ago. I've liked everything I've seen him in, and he is a good-looking guy...
