Hope it goes over well - I loved skating rinks as a teenager, and they are much better exercise than video games!

Also, little trivia here - my parents met at a skating rink. Apparently they were a big thing for several decades.

Some of my fondest memories are of going at what seemed like 100 mph around the curve at the skating rink, with the breeze blowing my feathered hair back, yelling up at the disc jockey, "Play 'Play That Funky Music, White Boy' PLEASE!"

And they always did!

To this day, that song reminds me of skating rinks!

Was that late the 1970's into the early 80's. Gee, it doesn't seem that could be your era, lol. A POSITIVE comment meant. lol

I'm only 20 and skating rinks were a lot of fun when I was 6-10. It was only something I would do sometimes, it wasn't a big part of the culture that way that it used to be in previous decades. There is truly something that has died in our way of life thanks to things like video games and all of the internet use these days rather than playing outside or meeting up with friends the way it used to be done. These are some sad times we are living in, from my perspective.

I did visit skating rinks in JR. High, but ice skating was more popular with my high school friends and me.

We spent happy evenings at the Ice Capades Chalet in Costa Mesa, CA. I *loved* the couples’ skat.

With all the kids we see on skates around here, though, I would think a skating rink would go over well, for the kids and even for those who want to enjoy a little nostalgia.
