Hi,
I finally started receiving my 1st UI benefits which completed in June; they put me in the EB program, but I am disqualified; I continued to file weekly and even went to one job review hearing. Of course, I have not received any benefits; will they return me to the UI program?

You don't mention where you were collecting UI -- or the reason for your disqualification from EB.

The eligibility requirements for the EUC Tiers are closer to those for regular benefits than to those for EB, which are more strict.

At the time you exhausted your regular benefits (in June), the EUC Tiers were not available to you. But the new legislation has extended the eligibility cut-off date, so you may be eligible for the Tiers program now -- even if you don't qualify for EB.

Contact your local UI office to determine if you are eligible for Tier I now.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your ?'s; I'm in NC and had to appeal to get benefits; the whole story is so complicated, but I had to use a Legal Aid lawyer who wasn't that familiar with my case; he focused on prescription meds (prednisone)that caused me to make mistakes. The hearing officer disqualified me for 6 or 7 wks, because I should have told my manager about the meds (I had an intermittant FMLA for 2 yrs);my manager was under the mistaken idea that she had no right to know what my FMLA was for (Lupus); she sounded so stupid, I couldn't tell the hearing officer! But get this, that afternoon all 6 or 7 past weekly certifications were paid into my direct deposit bank account! So how many weeks are you paid when you begin collecting unemployment?
