Did you apply there? If not it could just be a scam.

To clarify; it was a company I applied to, but paying a fee for a written test??? Outrageous and preposterous!!

Update: My friends tell me this is a new trend. This would be unheard of in the 1970's.
Has anyone else paid for an employment test, or know anyone that has?
Gotta love the New America!!

How much is the test? If it's a minimal amount of money, I suspect they are trying to weed out the people on unemployment who don't really want jobs. Afterall, they fill out applications just to prove to unemployment that they are trying to find work, which essentially causes work for a company's HR department. I'm not saying that all unemployed people don't want jobs, but we all know there are people out there who want their entire 99 weeks. A minimal amount of money to take a test might help them narrow down the serious applicants.

Went through this recently, but I didn't have to pay.
The employer should subsidize the cost of the test,
if they are requiring you to be tested.

It would be different if *you* wanted to be tested
on your own volition (sorry for the double-positive).

It's 25 bucks.
California doesnt check for proof of job searches but yes, it sounds like a way to weed out "lookie-loos".
It's a crazy new world out there.

Theoretically, if you are paying for the test, I would be curious if that means you "own" the results. If so, technically you should be able to offer them to other employers who may be interested in your verified expertise in whatever areas the test covers. Just an observation...
