Hi,

I am on Tier 2 here in NJ. At the end of Dec. 2013, I still had another 6 weeks left on Tier 2.

If the government passes the EUC for 2014, will I continue to claim my weekly benefits, or do I have to do something?

Also, in early Feb. 2014, will make one year since I filed for unemployment. Do I have to open a new claim at this point?

Thanks for your help, as everyone here already knows here in NJ, trying to get a person to help you on the phone is impossible. I tried the other day, they " called" me back, then hung up as I waited for a representative! Not the first time that has happened either!

NJ should notify you if EUC is extended. Keep checking their website, as well, for instructions. In the past, benefits have been reinstated retroactive to the date of legislation lapse - but it all depends on the new legislation.

You can file a new claim at your bye (benefit-year-end) in February. If you have not worked since your claim began, NJ will not find new claim eligibility.
