I was a commissioned sales rep. I did not get along with one of the owners. He called me stupid and a bad hire. My performance was above average. He stared giving me less and less leads to call on. I had to leave buecause I could not make a paycheck and bein belittled by this man? I since found an 1099 position that did not work out. I am able to colect unemployment for my firt job?

There is an unemployment forum, under the Work and Employment Forum on C-D.

To answer your question, a 1099 or self-employed person does not collect unemployment in MA, only employees (people who file a W-2 with taxes).

You don't know that you can collect from a 1099 job. Lots of employers misclassify all the time. You apply against your last employer, the 1099 job. You use that for your separation issue. You submit paystubs, and attempt to convince the state you were misclassied as a 1099 when you were really an employee.

You can also try to make this about the second to the last job. Problem is that you quit. You think you quit because the guy was mean. That's not the route to take. A boss that affects your leads and causes your PAY to be CUT, is a good cause reason to quit. However, most people don't do it right. For this to work, you have to prove that your pay was cut by showing paystubs showing the reduction, you have to prove that you complained to your employer so he would have an opportunity to address your falling wages, and then when you do quit, you have to write a correct letter of resignation so that there is no doubt that you quit over the falling wages. You can't say, "oh, I loved working here, and I'm sorry to go." No one will believe that it was your falling wages when you write a letter like that.
