My friend recently landed a temp job that lasts through August. After working this, he will need another 150 hours to reach the needed 680 hours to file a claim.

1. Can he work a series of part-time supplemental jobs to get to the required 680 hours and then file a claim and collect on that claim while continuing to work part-time supplemental jobs?

2. I'm afraid this is job (summer maintenance job) may be classified as a "seasonal" job by unemployment. If so, perhaps this would disqualify my friend from getting a claim? If this is the case, could my friend take one of those 2-day temp labor jobs and then qualify for a claim based on that?

Can't even begin to conjecture until you inform us in which STATE your friend intends to file.

1. Please include your STATE when posting a question. State laws/precedents differ. It is often putting the cart before the horse to discuss a quit/misconduct/claim issue without first knowing your STATE.

Different States have different laws reguarding this. New Jersey for example, if you earn more than $7,300 you can still qualify for benefits even if it isn't the required 20 weeks you normally would have to work to qualify.

Washington State has a 680 hour requirement to qualify, but I'm just guessing that's the State your talking about.
