I got fired from a job I took. they fired me after 5 wks. the property manager was a real ***** to work for. if you have seen the movie, the devil wears prada then you know what I mean. she stayed on me constantly and I never really got the training I needed for my job. I was ordered around like a slave to do this and that for her. then a friend of hers wanted my job and she told me this on several occasions. they finally made a job for her and one of the maintenance guys told me they had done that so they could fire me and let her have my job. she is Pentecostal. all she kept saying is I was living in sin and was offended by everyone and everything. I was told by this same maintenance guy to not every say anything around her cause she is a trouble maker. so I never did. but she claimed I told her things I never said. this is how bad she wanted my job. well she finally got her wish. she got me fired. my ui was denied and now I am going to arbitration over it. I know im not going to win because they always go with the employer and plus he is filthy rich. the person that called me from the unemployment office kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me finish anything and voted for the employer. so now I have to go thru this crap. I left a really good job for this one. I thought I was making a better choice. turns out I was wrong. I am very upset about this. the previous lady that was there was fired also. she was 61 and I am 57. the property manager kept making fun of her and talking about her constantly. she kept saying how stupid she was and she had boogers hanging out of her nose and on and on. she wanted this ladies job and she kept whining about her until they fired this lady and then this ***** got her job. do I need to hire an employment lawyer? I haven't any money. I feel I have been discriminated against because of my age.

Denials are standard whenever the employer accuses you of anything which can remotely resemble misconduct.

You are incorrect, however, in saying "they always go with the employer." This is NOT true. Appeals are won every day of the week.

Before anyone can help you, we need to know:
  1. Your state.
  2. The exact words of the determination letter which identifies the reason for the denial.
These are the only things which matter. The other events mean nothing, and that includes your age. The focus needs to be on the employer accusation, any evidence they have to support their allegations, and your defense against it.

I once beat Caterpillar in an unemployment ruling so it's possible to win. All I got was a lot of unemployment pay, but never the job back.
