Hello,

I forgot how much percentage the tax withholding is for unemployment claim. For example, if my weekly benefit is $450, how much would I get after tax?

Thank you

Use the federal and CA state tax withholding tables and figure it out. We don't know what exemptions you've claimed or whether you are singled or married.

Here are the federal tables:

California table:

Better yet, don't have taxes withheld. You can bank the money. Any taxes wouldn't be due until 2017. A whole lot can happen where the money will be more of a benefit to you in your bank account than in the government's hands.

EDD doesn't withhold CA State taxes. However, if you check the box on the claim form, they will withhold Federal taxes.

I know someone who's collecting EDD currently & he'd been saying YES to that question about whether he wants taxes withheld for the past several weeks. From n ow on, he'll say NO too. He'd rather have more money now too.

I prefer having taxes taken out, so I check the box.
