I have an edd claim open. I accepted a job worked there for 1 day and didn't like it so I quit. I know I have to claim my wages and that's not the problem. if i put on the slip where it says "reason for leaving" that I was laid off will they call and confirm it? keep in mind my claim is not closed and I'm receiving my edd from another employer that I used to work at for years. I don't want to put I quit cause that's a red flag and an interview will happen. thanks in advance

Your claim is probably toast. You made a terrible mistake.

Yes. IF the employer responds that you "quit," you'll then get a "false statement" penalty of two to five weeks that will hang around for a long time until you satisfy it.

Doesn't matter. UI is based on the reason for the separation from your LAST job. Once you took this job, it became your LAST job.

It could even be a one-hour a week job for $10/hr where you're collecting partial UI. If you quit that job, you lose the $10/wk, AND your UI check.

So is putting "laid off" after one day on the job. Trust me, you won't fool anyone. If you want to quit and get UI, you MUST get help before you walk out that door. One of the requirements is to "adjust your grievance." Even if what was wrong with the place was good cause to quit, you couldn't possibly have given your employer a chance to fix things.
