Hello
I was laid off end of August and have been receiving my unemployment benefits regularily. I certify weekly online.

I have a question because in October I took off 3 weeks for a trip that I had paid for while still working and that was not refundable so I went ahead with the trip. These 3 weeks were weeks ending Saturday 10/12, 10/19 and 10/26.

Now when I login to NJ UI I see that it is allowing me to certify for week of 10/12.

I know I cannot claim that I was able and available and actively seeking work for those 3 weeks so I will answer "NO" for the weeks ending 10/12, 10/19 and 10/26.

I'm hoping that once I do not claim benefits for those 3 weeks that it would then allow me to claim benefits for week ending 11/2 as I was available and seeking work for that week.

or will skipping those 3 weeks cause my claim to be Closed ?

Appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me on this - thanks a lot.

Any time you skip payment for a week, there is a risk that the claim will close.

You just call to get it REopened if you can't certify for weekending 11/2.
