When you first lost your job, did anyone say to you-
"YOU SEEM TO BE HANDLING YOUR SITUATION PRETTY WELL. I MEAN YOU DON"T SOUND DEPRESSED OR ANYTHING"
HUH?-lol So a person who is laid off is supposed to mope and sit along and cry all day instead of having a positive attitude and agressively uploading resumes to various job search sites and networking to get it out there that you are seeking employment?
I mean is that not the DUMBEST THING a person can say to you after being laid off?
I don't think it's such a dumb question. One only needs to read a few threads on this forum to know that not many people are hearing that particular statement. I do agree with your general sentiment about keeping your chin up.
Well it's better than saying, "WHY aren't you depressed and crying?"
I will say I am very anxious and scared about getting another job but I try to remain optimistic and not worry myself physically sick.
You have no choice but to remain optimistic because if you don't you will not achieve anything. Since being informed my last day of work will be on january 23, 2008, I have uploaded my resume to 10 websites, informed my cousin I'm seeking a new job, and caled my uncle who asked me to email him my resume on monday morning who works for United HealthCare. So it's about being agressive and optimistic not scared and depressed. In just 7 days I like how much I have accomplished and my unemployment phase doesn't even started until February 1st.
The week before I was informed of the changes in my work status, I had already filled out four applications.
Once I learned I'd be out of work for a few weeks, I filled out 4-5 more.
It would be a lot easier for me to find a job if I wasn't a student because a lot of the jobs are full time.
I am glad you mentioned talking to a relative, I might need to do that and see if any of my relatives know of any openings or can put in a word for me.

I wish you the best in your job search.
Yeah I think the key is to let as many people know you are not working as possible, friends, family, old co-workers.

Yeah, well, we'll see how optimistic you are when you get no takers. I mean, it's just not like this job hunting thing is a walk in the park and that everyone else on CD is lazy.
Umm, only time will tell, and I'd be careful about crowing too loudly in this economy.
That's why your job search is supposed to be around the clock every single day and only take breaks to eat and sleep.
I aleady know that stuff like DATING is out for now, I have more important things to focus on.
