I don't think he was murdered, he was just piloting a plane in conditions that exceeded his ability to safely handle it. If you really wanted to be a conspiracy theorist you could say it was because he was thinking about running for US senator in NY and wasn't wanted competing for it. That's a very big stretch.
He was by far the most well liked of all the Kennedys and like his sister was relegated to the sidelines of politics by not having the instincts and drive for it. Just let him RIP.
All true.
I always like JFK Jr from a superficial standpoint- not like I knew him or anything. But he retained some of his father's mystique and style while avoiding his peccadillos.
However, Jr was a a true Kennedy in that he was RECKLESS. The streak that binds the Kennedy men is a propensity towards Reckless and Macho behavior. Brawling, philandering, boozing, rough football, crazed heroics in war, football on skis, and yes, flying a plane that is beyond one's skill level.
I had read that he was actively working on further invesitigations of his farther's assassination and keep in mind that there are still people alive today that were around and in government at the time. This would have given them a motive if they were somehow involved. I also read that he was much too careful and responsible a person to take a chance on flying beyond his capabilities.
He was talking about a possibility of an eventual Presidential run and he was enormously well liked and popular, not to mention physically gorgeous. His appeal on many levels would have been difficult to beat. Yep, not difficult to smell and expect foul play
Kennedy was a bad pilot. He was flying at night by instruments when he wasn't rated to do so. Earlier in June he crashed a paraglider. Kennedy, his wife, and her sister lost their lives because JFK Jr made a fatal mistake in judgment. No murder conspiracy. Just errors in judgment.
Nothing could be further from the truth. JFK Jr had 17 years of flying experience, and according to his flight instructor, was an excellent pilot with enough flight hours to be a commercial pilot.
And the weather was CLEAR, and near PERFECT conditions.

PROPAGANDA JFK Jr. was a reckless pilot. FACT: This claim was planted everywhere in the media, always attributed to an "unnamed source". One reporter, Cindy Adams at the New York Post, later had cause to suspect she had been lied to. So did Andrew Goldman at the New York Observer. Interviews with individuals directly familier with JFK Jr's flying ability shown on Inside Edition confirmed that he was a highly skilled and careful pilot.
fail to see how nayone can conclude that the Kennedy's were not reckless in their lifes form Joe to teddy. Its a trail of recklessness as has been shown thru what was hiden form the american public. Yes indeed ... constantly jumping in front of bullets is a fairly reckless way to live.
I blame his wife. John's pacing back and forth at the airport wanting to leave & fly during daylight hours. He can't be happy when his wife shows up 2 1/2 hours late. I can imagine John stewing, scowling, and trying to focus as his wife & her friend natter on in the backseat. He last words were probably "Now see what you've done!" (unless it's a movie in which case they reconcile and give each other meaningful glances in the last seconds).
