That was very focused. HAARP also can replicate an aurora but it sends out a beam on a focused point. It's basically like aiming your microwave but that microwave used millions of watts, maybe even up to a billion. It excites the sub-atomic particles increasing the temp. in that area. It could easily manufacture a spiral like this if it was hot enough. Considering it's an invention of Nikola Tesla I wouldn't discount it too quickly.
As for the lights itself, Norway is north enough to enjoy the Aurora Borealis.
I tend to agree with you, I remain skeptical at the very least. I haven't been able to find any *credible* sources but as newtoli says, the news is all over.
Just depends on if whatever caused it, and the powers that be, want it to be found. It may just be a natural phenomena. Then again, it may not. We'll likely never hear the real story. Part of the HAARP theory is that it can be used to control human emotions. Studies by Yale professor Jose Delgado link mind control to ELF or extremely low frequency waves.

Firstly I can find no mention, from a reputable source, that HAARP causes any such manifestation.
Second, considering that HAARP is an open program, you would find it very difficult to convince anyone that there are secret firings from secret labs.
Sorry, but your theory takes on the aura of "Chemtrails".
Those are some great skills you have inspector gadget....

The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is a congressionally initiated program jointly managed by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. The program's goal is to provide a state-of-the-art U.S. owned ionospheric research facility readily accessible to U.S. scientists from universities, the private sector and government. This facility would be the most advanced in the world and would attract international scientists and foster cooperative research efforts. The program's purpose is to provide a research facility to conduct pioneering experiments in ionospheric phenomena. The data obtained from the proposed research would be used to analyze basic ionospheric properties and to assess the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for communications and surveillance purposes.
"HAARP", an acronym for "High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program", is a project having the goal of studying fundamental physical principles which govern the region of the earth's atmosphere known as the ionosphere.
Scientific instruments installed at the HAARP Observatory will be useful for a variety of continuing research efforts which do not involve the use of the IRI but are strictly passive. Among these studies include ionospheric characterization using satellite beacons, telescopic observation of the fine structure in the aurora, and documentation of long-term variations in the ozone layer.
1:dawn 2capitalized: the Roman goddess of dawn — compare eos 3:a luminous phenomenon that consists of streamers or arches of light appearing in the upper atmosphere of a planet's magnetic polar regions and is caused by the emission of light from atoms excited by electrons accelerated along the planet's magnetic field lines
The US Navy has also been carrying on High Power Auroral Stimulation (HIPAS) research in Alaska. Through a series of wires and a 15 metre antenna, they have beamed high intensity signals into the upper atmosphere, generating a controlled disturbance in the ionosphere. As early as 1992, the Navy talked of creating 10 kilometre long antennas in the sky to generate extremely low frequency (ELF) waves needed for communicating with submarines.
In the past, the threat of mutually assured destruction provided a lasting deterrent against the exchange of multiple high-yield nuclear warheads. However, now even a single, specially designed low-yield nuclear explosion high above the United States, or over a battlefield, can produce a large-scale EMP effect that could result in a widespread
loss of electronics, but no direct fatalities, and may not necessarily evoke a large nuclear retaliatory strike by the U.S. military. This, coupled with the possible vulnerability of U.S. commercial electronics and U.S. military battlefield equipment to the effects of EMP, may create a new incentive for other countries to develop or acquire a nuclear capability.
