I am more than happy to have a well reasoned and insightful American perspective. Unfortunately, I think it unlikely that we will get that from that particular poster.

I honestly think that in the end Scotland will reject independence and Alex Salmond go crawling back under whatever rock he came from. Yeah, I suspect the vote will be close but the We are Better Together crowd will prevail.

Sadly many Americans don't know the difference. They don't know what the "troubles" are or why they came about. They don't know the meaning of Orange or the Falls Road.

However, some of us Americans care a great deal about Northern Ireland. Don't forget that we have a large number of Catholics in the US and many of them have Irish roots. To them and to me Derry will never be Londonderry. There's no Irish blood in me. I just believe in the cause.

As for Scotland, and I do love Scotland, too, I don't see any great push for independence. Sean Connery has been pushing for it for years to no avail.

I must add here that I am quite fond of England, too. All you folks are our cousins, like it or not.

Not always. I would hate to see the UK ditch the Queen. And I would also hate to see the UK broken up. But I voiced that already and was told to keep out of it by a certain Scottish poster.

Every nation has the right to decide their own destiny, and if that means self-determination, we have to respect it.

IMO if I were Scottish, I would vote against independence because I think that being inside UK makes Scotland stronger.

Anyway, they want to enter in the EU? WHY!?
