Where do you live in the U.S. I would say it's def. a regional thing depending on what type of Europeans settled where. In the south where the majority of white people are of British/Scots-Irish descent with a little German thrown in as well I would say the majority have blue eyes. I've lived in the southeast my entire life and when I meet people from the northeast it seems they have a higher chance of having dark eyes. I would say my fam. is about 3/4 blue eyed peeps. It just depends on the region.

Yes, there are certainly regional differences. I'm sure you would see more blue eyes in the US within the upper Midwest where many people have Scandinavian heritage. To a lesser extent this is probably true in the South where most white people have British ancestry. On the flip side blue eyes will be less common in the urban areas of the Northeast US where Italian heritage is more common.

So? Unless you're a Native American your family came from somewhere else. It's not like the UK where most (until recently) had been there for eons. We grow up with a heritage from a different land. We hear about it from our parents and grandparents and we are conscious of it from our family's customs to the food we eat or the language they speak.

I think of myself as American but my Dad used to call himself English. Well, he was born one year after they got here, his parents were English and so were his sisters and brothers. Can you blame him? They ate foods that Americans don't eat and his parents went back and forth to England whenever they could. It sort of sets you apart from others. And of course we MEAN American/English or American/Italian or American/German. We don't NEED to say American because of course we are American. We're just narrowing it down.

I have green eyes ... perhaps I'm naturally jealous?

I met a lady with violet eyes ... I couldn't look away (I've no idea what she looked like ... but I've never seen eyes that were so beautiful.)

Everybody in my fathers side has blue eyes, me included. Most people in my mothers side has brown eyes except for my granny and a few aunts. So around 60 percent are blue eyed.

None of my family has blue eyes, is that normal considering we're entirely of British and Irish descent?

The majority have blue eyes? I would highly doubt that. Even in the very Northern European-dominated place I live, I think brown eyes are pretty common.
