I didn't even realize they existed until the other day when I was in Golders Green and met a Japanese-Briton who's family had been in England since the early 1900s.
I then did some more research on it and found out we in the UK have the largest number of Japanese in Europe and even more than Australia, yet they seem to be under represented despite this in the media and general life.
I do wonder how the population grew though, because not many Japanese leave their country today, and even 100+ years ago the UK was a stretch to immigrate to from Asia compared to the US, Canada or Brazil.
