I've only been to Liverpool once...in 1998...

I parked my car in Birkenhead, crossed the Mersey in the Mersey ferry (they actually played "Ferry Across The Mersey", went to tbe Beatles Museum and walked around Liverpool city centre.....and honestly, I was IMPRESSED (and that was 11 years ago).

Toxteth is fine. I was brought up there and I think it has an unfair press. Yes, the riots took place there - many years ago, but today all is peaceful. I would look for a place around Sefton Park, Lark Lane, Aigburth. Avoid the outskirts of the city.

People with money from Liverpool move to Southport.

Lot of Liverpool and Everton players live in Southport.

TRy 7 miles away in WIRRAL (fine )
Liverpool 8 is rather bad, has a large Somali group causing many problems with crime. Avoid Cantril Farm, Huyton, Knowsley and Stockbridge Village all high Crime areas. West Derby Village is ok, Childwall is ok, Woolton is OK.

Hope that helps
